About the team
I'm Maurice Pompey, a Durham Region native with a genuine passion for the martial arts. I first started training in kickboxing in early 2014 and have ...since gone on to compete in amateur and semi-professional fights. I have also been honoured to represent our country with international bouts across North and South America as well as in Asia. I hope to use my ever expanding knowledge and experience to spread the joy of martial arts throughout the 9Round Team. More
I started my martial arts training when I was six years old. I studied karate for one year, then I took a break from martial arts to focus more on bas...ketball, and dancing. When I entered high school, I enrolled myself into Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu. I studied both martial arts for four years until I reached the age of eighteen. I then decided to switch over to my current martial art, Systema. I am very passionate in teaching others the importance of physical activity. It allows for physical and mental growth as well as increased confidence in ones self. I hope to inspire others to become more active through physical activity and/or martial arts. By doing so you can begin to learn more about who you are, as well as unlock your full potential by exceeding your "limits". More
Martial arts and physical activity have always been a huge part of my life. My love for active living has especially grown during the last 8 years whe...re I took up boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu recreationally and Muay Thai competitively. I strive to increase my knowledge through my education of Kinesiology and my personal life by continuing to study and participate in the art of Muay Thai. I hope to be able to express the passion I have for the arts to everyone I come in contact within the 9Round community! More
I started boxing at the age of 10 and fell in love with the sport. Since then I’ve also played many sports recreationally such as; basketball, footbal...l and volleyball. I’ve been a member at 9Round for a year before joining the team. After experiencing the many benefits of training at 9Round, I’m pleased to be able to assists others in reaching their goals in 9Rounds. More

9 round boxing is by far my favourite workout program. I’ve tried a bunch of places, but 9 round tops them all. It is so convenient for people with busy schedules to go in at any time to complete your... workout and be done within 30 minutes. I love it! The Trainers are so kind but they also push you because they know you can do it and they make sure to instruct you properly on what to do. I normally hate working out especially by myself b... ut now I go here all the time and I actually feel good. I'm trying to get a bunch of my friends to go with me. So glad I found this place!! The workouts are fantastic! I felt a difference in my energy level in the very first week! It's definitely a tough workout but modifications are made to match each person's abilities. The best par... t, though (apart from feeling great afterwards) is the enthusiasm and interest the trainers take in you. The trainers in Ajax are fantastic! I like the circuit training component, also the fact that its only 3 minutes per station...this eliminates unnecessary wear and tear on my joints.
