Keeping up with a workout schedule and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are big commitments – that’s no secret. Like most challenges, a fitness routine comes with its own set of obstacles to overcome, and one of the biggest difficulties for some individuals is self-doubt. If you needed motivation to cut out ALL the negative gym talk, here are four reasons to stay positive during your workouts!
1. You’re part of a bigger community that supports you.

2. Small accomplishments are STILL accomplishments.
One way to get rid of negative vibes is to celebrate every gym victory, no matter how big or small. So, you weren’t the CHOW winner this time… that’s okay! You still completed as many reps or sets as you could, and that’s worth celebrating with a post-workout selfie to show off how hard you worked. You read that correctly; while it might seem contradictory to schedule a few days off from working out, rest days are actually beneficial to your progress. Because 9Round workouts are high-intensity, you’ll need downtime to fully recover and keep putting in your best effort during workouts. If you don’t allow yourself those crucial rest days as part of your fitness regimen, then it could have a negative effect on your motivation and energy levels. Instead of guilt-tripping yourself for not getting a workout in seven days a week, let your body have time to adapt to your activity level.
4. Negativity only hinders your progress.
If you constantly tell yourself you’re “too slow” or “too weak,” you’re not setting yourself up for success, and instead, you’re distracting yourself from what you’re capable of. There’s a reason we grew up with parents and teachers telling us we could do anything we set our minds to; it was to help us feel empowered. When you let encouragement from trainers or other members sink in, you’ll feel more confident and push yourself even harder. It’s about being better than you were yesterday and then reflecting on all of the progress you’ve made since beginning your fitness journey.
